The Importance of Having a Business Plan
A business plan outlines what your intentions are for your business. They are your road map to success. The plan is developed by YOU taking a look at the real world of your business and analyzing what it will take to be successful in it. The more detail you put into your plan, the better your success will be. The reason it is so important is because the more confidence you have in your direction, the better you can complete the steps to accomplish the goals. Simple as that!
Sad as it is, you can go broke if you are not clear about what your business is. If you think you’re a buyer’s agent and take two or three listings, you’re not just a buyer’s agent anymore. Your marketing efforts are directed toward getting more buyers, but your money is being spent on promoting the listings you’ve taken. You can easily overspend simply because you think it’s the right thing to do at the moment. Don’t just take random actions in an attempt to be successful… PLAN and you can be! There are thousands of pages on the internet about writing a business plan. I won’t recreate the wheel here and do it again. Many great minds have already done it far better than I could. I suggest that you visit the
U.S. Small Business Administration.
Don’t just read through this information though, devour it! Make this a priority. The USSBA is by no means the only resource of value to you for writing a business plan, but it is a great resource. You can also contact your local Small Business Administration for guidance with building your plan. There are many to choose from – the key here is that you take action toward building yours today.
